The Chinchero International Airport is an airport in early construction in the area of the Peruvian town of Chinchero , about 15 kilometers northwest of the city of Cusco .

Construction began in January 2019 with extensive earthworks. The construction costs were originally supposed to be around 600 million US dollars, later 770 million, with the state originally supposed to take on just under half - the state invested 200 million in particular in the previous earthworks to keep the problem-struggling private project going. Completion was planned for the end of 2019 for the year 2024. The airport is to replace the current Cusco airport and also enable long-haul flights to the region thanks to a longer runway. Critics of the project fear, among other things, a further destruction of the world heritage Machu Picchu by increasing numbers of tourists and criticize the damage to the environment by the construction itself.

During the COVID-19 pandemic , work at the airport was temporarily interrupted.
