International Film Festival Passau

The Passau International Film Festival was launched by Andreas Riemann at the end of 2005.

Festival 2006

The first implementation took place from 9 to 12 November 2006 in the Capitol-Kino-Center and the University of Passau . The organizers are the University of Passau and the Association of Friends and Supporters of the Passau International Film Festival.

In 2006 the jury was made up of Dana Vávrová , Thomas Kronthaler , Thomas Darchinger , Hans Krah, Martin Nies, Jack Hruby and Andreas Rost. The five Passau eyes are awarded as a prize. Prizes were awarded in the following categories:

  • Best feature film;
  • Best Public Film;
  • Best short film;
  • Best Youth Film;
  • Best Bavarian Film.

When it was first held, around 2000 visitors came to the film festival.

Festival 2008

In 2007 Louisa Luckert took over the management of the film festival; it organizes the second implementation of the Passau International Film Festival, which will take place from 6th to 9th November 2008 took place. Festival founder Andreas Riemann heads the Bavaria section and the entire German-language film. Since the venue was no longer available from 2006 due to renovation work, the venue was changed. The main venue was the Metropolis film theater. Individual films were also shown in the Cineplex Passau. The film festival opened in 2008 with Marie Miyamaya's Der Rote Punkt .

  • Patron: Klaus Schaefer ( FFF-Bayern )
  • Opening film: The Red Dot
  • Festival dates: 5. – 9. November 2008

Festival 2009

At the beginning of 2009, festival founder Andreas Riemann took over the management of the film festival again. However, the third edition was not realized.
