Pierre Trudeau international high school

history

The Pierre Trudeau International High School was founded in 2004 to enable graduates of the Pierre Trudeau International Elementary School to continue their four-year bilingual education. The Canadian politician Pierre Trudeau was chosen as the namesake for both schools , as he strongly promoted the bilingual schools of Canada during his tenure in order to improve mutual understanding and acceptance between his Anglophone and Francophone fellow citizens. In 2005 the school moved from Magdeburg to Barleben.

Pedagogical orientation

The aim of the educational work is to train students to become world citizens. Thanks to the use of many native-speaking teachers from different countries, foreign language acquisition is intensified on the one hand, and constant communication of the respective national culture is ensured on the other. The acquisition of distinctive intercultural skills is the second pillar of the global citizenship concept alongside foreign languages. This course is supported by the annual language trips to host families in Spain, China, France, Serbia, England and Morocco. Five foreign languages are taught at the school: French, English, Chinese, Russian and Spanish. The first two mentioned occupy a prominent position, as they are both intensively taught in parallel from the 5th grade on. In addition, part of the specialist course is taught in a foreign language : mathematics, art and history in English, geography and history in French. Spanish, Russian or Chinese are added as a regular third foreign language from the 6th or 9th grade, depending on the ability of the students. In all foreign languages, students are guided to take external language certificates.

  • French = DELF scolaire B1 already in the 8th and 9th grade, B2 at the end of the 10th grade
  • English = CPE at the end of 11th grade
  • Chinese = HSK 2 at the end of the 10th grade and HSK 3 at the end of the 11th grade
  • Spanish = DELE B1 end of 11th grade

In addition to the state high school diploma, the German-French double high school AbiBac can also be taken at the Pierre Trudeau international high school .

As part of the SINUS-Transfer Elementary School project, which aims to increase the efficiency of math and science teaching, there is intensive cooperation between the Pierre Trudeau Elementary School and the Pierre Trudeau International High School.

School partnerships

School partnerships have existed since 2008 with the Collège Saint Pierre Saint Jean, Neuilly sur Seine and the Collège Saint Joseph, Asnières sur Seine.
