The International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) was founded in West Berlin in 1962 .

task

The purpose is to further educate journalists from developing and transition countries . The main target group are print and online journalists.

Among other things, journalistic training is offered on the following topics:

In 2011 around 40 training and dialogue events were offered in Germany and the partner countries. According to the IIJ, up to 500 media representatives were reached.

Client

GIZ's most important clients are primarily the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Federal Foreign Office . Since 2011 the IIJ has been a competence center within the German Society for International Cooperation .
