International Year of Microcredit

As International Year of Microcredit by decision which is the UN General Assembly this year has been proclaimed of 2005. On the subject of microfinance as an effective means of combating poverty and helping people to help themselves, more events are to take place throughout the year in all the countries that have joined.

Implementation in Germany

Numerous events throughout Germany for the International Year of Microcredit are planned throughout 2005. A highlight is to be an international symposium in Bonn on June 10th in cooperation with UN organizations. The participation of the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has been requested, but not guaranteed.
