International Scientific Committee on the History of Awards

The International Scientific Committee on the History of Awards was founded in 1929 by William Beveridge and Edwin Francis Gay with a five-year grant from the Rockefeller Foundation . The work was divided among national leaders, namely William Beveridge for England, Moritz John Elsas for Germany, Edwin Gay for the USA, Earl J. Hamilton for Spain, Henri Hauser for France and Alfred Francis Přibram for Austria; later Franciszek Bujak for Poland and Nicolaas Wilhelmus Posthumus for the Netherlands were added; Arthur H. Cole was responsible for financing the entire company.
