Interpretatio Christiana
Interpretatio Christiana describes the conversion or reinterpretation of Jewish or pagan customs and traditions in a Christian context.
Examples are:
- The Roman winter solstice celebration dies natalis Invicti was held at Christmas .
- The representation of the Greek shepherd god Pan served as a model for the representation of the Christian devil .
- Old Testament traditions have been reinterpreted by Christian authors such as Paul .
