Inverter ( Latin / English : converter ) means:

in digital technology a gate with an input and an output, see non-gate
in electrical power engineering a converter or inverter :
- Device for electrical welding, see welding inverter
- Abbreviation for a technology in air conditioning systems in which the work performance of the air conditioning compressor is controlled by a frequency converter , see air conditioning system # chillers
- CCFL inverter for the power supply of cold cathode tubes (e.g. in LC monitors)
