It grows in step societies on paths and in pavement joints, e.g. B. in cemeteries, brownfield sites and sidewalks. Here it likes to grow in Central Europe in the turf community of the knotweed ( Polygonetum calcati ), but is a species of the order Plantaginetalia majoris . It prefers dry, warm, nutrient-rich, mostly sandy soil with little fine soil.
