Invitation a la Polka-Mazur

Invitation a la Polka-Mazur is a Polka - Mazur by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 277). The work was first performed on August 18, 1863 in Pavlovsk , Russia.

Remarks

The polka was created by Johann Strauss during his trip to Russia in 1863. Originally the title was Invitation to Polka Mazur . But since French was more common than German in Russia at the time, the name was simply translated. Since then the work has been called Invitation a la Polka-Mazur . In Russia, however, the title name was shortened to invitation . The premiere in Vienna took place on November 29, 1863 at a benefit concert by the Strauss brothers.
