Sjur Miljeteig

Sjur Miljeteig (born January 4, 1974 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ).

Live and act

Miljeteig received music training from 1990 to 1993 at the Foss videregående skole in Oslo. He first worked at Bugge Wesseltoft . He also belonged to the Tentett Jaga Jazzist , with whom he recorded the album Jævla Jazzist Grete Stitz (1996) and the EP Magazine (1998). In 1997 a joint album with Markus Midré was released. Then he formed the duo Friko with drummer Peder Kjellsby, who released two live albums, Burglar Ballads (2003) and Journey to Mandoola (2006). In the band For Sure he worked with Aslak Hartberg; He accompanied Solveig Slettahjell with the Slow Motion Quintet on their album Silver (2006) as well as on their collaborative album Natt I Bethlehem (2008, with Tord Gustavsen ) and on the album Tarpan Seasons (2009, with the Slow Motion Orchestra , to the Morten Qvenild , Andreas Ulvo , Even Helte Hermansen, Jo Berger Myhre and Per Oddvar Johansen ).

He interpreted the music of Miles Davis in a band (not yet documented on phonograms) with Håvard Wiik , Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Peder Kjellsby. It wasn't until 2013 that his debut album, It's Funny How Things Happen at Particular Times, was released under Miljeteig's name .

Miljeteig is also on albums with the Crime Time Orchestra and the album In the Kingdom of Kitsch You Will Be a Monster of Shining heard. In 2016 he received the Heddaprisen for his theater music for Solaris corrected . He also composed for film and television.

The musician is married to the actress Ane Dahl Torp .
