Mission statement of this section

The mission statement is defined as follows:

We are a section of the Inzing Sports Union with the aim of promoting volleyball in Inzing and the surrounding area. Our main focus is on the support and training of female and male offspring. Well-trained, committed trainers should guarantee a high level and continuous improvement in all age and ability levels. Successes in the various championships of the Tyrolean and Austrian volleyball associations should serve as a yardstick for our performance. In addition, we try to provide talents from our club for the relevant national cadres. We also offer our members numerous community-building activities off the field. Sports enthusiasts outside of our club should also be brought closer to the joy of volleyball by taking care of the beach volleyball court.

training

A 15-strong coaching staff trains almost 170 active people. Ball game groups begin at an early age in primary school. Later on, target-oriented training for participation in the Tyrolean championships and national competitions will be offered to all age groups. Beach volleyball activities are organized and carried out in our own beach area.

history

founding

The volleyball section emerged from a group from the HS-Inzing teacher’s gymnastics group. Due to the growing interest of “non-teachers”, the decision was made in April 1984 to found a volleyball section in the SU Inzing. In the following years tournaments and friendly games were held mainly in the hobby area of adults. The games were mainly played in mixed teams. From the very beginning, the focus was also on promoting the next generation of children at primary school age.

1990s

As a result, the entire team and also the board of directors have been rejuvenated in recent years. There were also new players from the area who made it possible to participate in both women's and men's leagues, and the youngsters first took part in the leagues of the Tyrolean volleyball association at the end of the 1990s. The athletic level was also continuously increased. The number of training units was increased significantly, which was also clearly reflected in the rankings of the teams.

2000s

After winning the Tyrolean championship twice in 2001 and 2003, the men's team was promoted to the second Austrian Bundesliga in the 2003/2004 season. In the 2009/2010 season the men's team played in a syndicate with VC Mils in the 2nd Bundesliga and, after 2006, reached the promotion play-off to the AVL (1st Austrian Bundesliga). Further Tyrolean championship titles for men followed in 2008 and 2009. The women’s team has played in the 2nd Bundesliga since the 2006/2007 season (in the first year in a syndicate with VC Klafs Brixental). Several Tyrolean championship titles were achieved in the junior division. Currently around 100 children and young people are being looked after in 16 youth teams (age groups U11 to U19).

Landslides in 2012

On August 12, 2012, on the way to the Inzinger Alm, a landslide occurred in which Section Head Benedikt Scheiber and his deputy Nadja Walch were killed. The accident occurred on a dry summer day and, according to experts, was not predictable. The car of the two befriended functionaries was largely buried, no other people were harmed. The accident also presented the volleyball section with a difficult organizational task, as Scheiber had headed it for over 12 years and was also very active as a coach. In October 2012, a new section leadership was finally elected, the board of the section remained largely unchanged.
