Ion Duminicel

Ion Duminicel (born August 15, 1954 in Călimăneşti ) is a former Romanian bobsledder .

He took part in the Winter Olympics for the first time in 1980. In Lake Placid (USA) he started with the Romanian four-man bobsleigh II and reached 14th place with Doru Frîncu , Constantin Iancu and Constantin Obreja . Four years later, Duminicel took part in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo (Yugoslavia). There he drove the Romanian two-man Bobsleigh II with Costel Petrariu pusher to 18th place and was thus able to place better than the Romanian Bobsleigh I.

Even after his active career, Ion Duminicel remained loyal to bobsleigh. He coached his son Adrian Duminicel , a participant in the 2002 and 2006 Olympic Games, and became General Secretary of the Romanian Bobsleigh and Sled Association FRBS (Federația Romană de Bob și Sanie) .
