Iordanis Tzamtzis

Iordanis “Danis” Tzamtzis ( Greek Ιορδάνης “Δάνης” Τζαμτζής , born February 2, 1961 in Mavrovouni , Central Macedonia region ) is a Greek political scientist, farmer and former member of the Nea Dimokratia for the constituency of Pella .

Life

Tzamtzis studied at the Institute of Political Science and Public Administration at the Law Faculty of the University of Athens . He had been a member of the youth organization ONNED of the conservative Nea Dimokratia since 1977 and between 1979 and 1989 accompanied various positions of the organization at management level. He has been a member of the New Democracy since 1989. In November 1989, at the age of 28, he was elected the youngest mayor of Greece in what was then Skydra . In the subsequent mayor elections in 1990 and 1994, he was confirmed in office. Tzamtzis was elected as a member of the Pella constituency in the 2000 , 2004 , 2007 parliamentary electionsand elected to the Greek Parliament in June 2012 .

In October 2013 he led a group of MPs from the Nea Dimokratia who fought against plans for unified property management by Finance Minister Giannis Stournaras of the Samaras government .

Tzamitzis became known throughout Greece in November 2013 with his statements that "the diets of the Greek people's representatives are barely enough to survive".

Tzamtzis is married and has one daughter.
