The parliamentary elections in Greece in 2000 took place on April 8, 2000.

Electoral system

There are 300 seats in the Greek Parliament for a term of four years. A three percent threshold was applied to the approved parties . The election was based on proportional representation . Voting was compulsory for all Greek citizens over the age of 18.

Election result

The Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) won the election by a narrow margin over the New Democracy (ND). All left parties suffered losses in the election. The Democratic Social Movement (DIKKI), previously represented in parliament, failed because of the three percent hurdle and was therefore unable to send any more representatives.
