The parliamentary elections in Greece in 1990 took place on April 8, 1990.

It took place as an early election only five months after the election in November 1989 , which, like the election in June 1989, did not result in a governable majority.

Electoral system

There are 300 seats in the Greek Parliament for a term of four years. There was no threshold clause for the authorized parties . The election was based on proportional representation . Voting was compulsory for all Greek citizens over the age of 18.

Election result

The election winner was the Nea Dimokratia (ND), they received half of the 300 seats to be awarded and secured the support of the only MP for Democratic Renewal, Theodoros Katsikis. Shortly after the parliament gave the new government under Konstantinos Mitsotakis its confidence, the ND was awarded another seat by the Supreme Court because of an error in the calculation of the mandates. The Panellinio Sosialistiko Kinima (PASOK) was the loser in the election with significant losses . For the second time in a row, the ecological-alternative party Ikologi Enallaktiki (Οικολόγοι Εναλλακτικοί 'Ecologists / Alternative') won a seat in parliament.
