The 1974 general election in Greece took place on November 17, 1974. It was the first free parliamentary election after the end of the Greek military dictatorship from 1967 to 1974. Konstantinos Karamanlis and his center-right party Nea Dimokratia (ND; New Democracy) won with an absolute majority of 54.37%. The ND received 220 of the 300 seats to be allocated in the Greek parliament and thus a two-thirds majority. Karamanlis formed the Karamanlis cabinet and became prime minister. He held this office until May 1980, when he was elected President .

The parliamentary election took place after the increased proportional representation . The party that won the most votes received 50 additional seats in parliament. It was compulsory to vote. Men and women over the age of 18 were eligible to vote.
