Klaus-Detlev Grothusen
Klaus-Detlev Grothusen (born October 29, 1928 near Bad Nauheim , † July 16, 1994 ) was a German historian .
Klaus-Detlev Grothusen studied history and Slavic studies in Göttingen and Kiel from 1948 to 1954. He received his doctorate in 1954 from the University of Kiel on the historical school of law in Russia in the 19th century. Grothusen completed training as a scientific librarian. He wrote his thesis on the development of Yugoslavia's academic libraries. In 1965 he completed his habilitation on medieval Zagreb in Gießen.
Since 1969 Grothusen has taught as a professor for Eastern European history at the University of Hamburg . From 1975 until his death he edited the series Südosteuropa-Handbuch , a series of eight geographical handbooks on the development of the individual states of Southeast Europe since 1945. In 1989 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Sofia . In 1992 he took early retirement due to a serious illness. In Leipzig he accepted a teaching position. In 1994 Frank Golczewski succeeded him as Professor of Eastern European History in Hamburg. Grothusen put the focus of his research on Southeast Europe. Grothusen shaped the later chair holders Holm Sundhaussen , Bernd Bonwetsch , Wolfgang Höpken and Karl-Heinz Schlarp .
