List of political parties in Greece

The list of political parties in Greece includes all politically active parties in Greece .

The Greek party landscape is still relatively young, since with the exception of the Communist Party, which has existed since 1918 (although it was banned for a long time), almost all parties were founded from 1974 after the fall of the junta . The party landscape, although the Greek suffrage strongly favors larger parties, is relatively fragmented, especially due to the divided left in Greece . For a long time, politics was largely determined by five parties . The two big parties New Democracy (ND) and Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PA.SO.K.) tied the majority of the electorate. As a result of the financial and economic crisis , however, the party landscape was badly shaken; the big parties lost supporters, splinter groups and new foundations formed.
