Iraqi Kurdistan Front

The Iraqi Kurdistan Front ( Kurdish Berey Kurdistani Irak , short IKF ) was an umbrella organization of the opposition parties in the Kurdistan region that was formed on May 12, 1988 . The aim was to form a united political opposition to the Iraqi Baath regime. It originally consisted of five opposition parties, u. a. the two main parties - the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Democratic Party of Kurdistan .

The Iraqi Kurdistan Front played a major role in the uprising in Iraq in 1991 : it took power when Iraqi forces withdrew from northern Iraq . Furthermore, she took over the payment of the administrative apparatus left behind and the preparation of the parliamentary elections on May 19, 1992.
