Irena Pelikánová

Irena Pelikánová (born June 25, 1949 in Prague ) is a Czech lawyer and former judge at the Court of the European Union .

Pelikánová holds a PhD in both law and science. She worked as a lawyer and until 1989 as an assistant for commercial law. In 1993 she became professor of commercial law at the Charles University in Prague . From 1999 to 2001 she was a member of the Presidium of the Securities Commission. She was also a member of the Legislative Council of the Czech Government from 1998 to 2002. Since May 12, 2004 she was a judge at the Court of the European Union based in Luxembourg . There she belonged to the fourth chamber and was its president. After two extensions, her mandate ran until September 26, 2019.

Her son Robert Pelikán was the Czech Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2018.
