Irene Alfoldi

Irene Alföldi , also Irene Alföldý , ( July 24, 1874 in Erlau - after 1908) was a Hungarian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Alföldi was the daughter of a flour dealer. After she had been trained for a stage career with singing master Johannes Reß in Vienna, she was engaged in 1895 as a youthful dramatic singer at the German State Theater in Prague, where she made her debut as "Elsa". She had a voice of rare melodiousness, which, especially in the middle register, was lovely, sympathetically soft and soulful. Especially in the tones efg, her voice of “sensual, condensed sweetness and softness” found particularly rich unanimous recognition. Her most outstanding roles include "Sieglinde" in the Walküre , "Senta" in the Flying Dutchman , "Sulamith" in the Queen of Saba von Goldmark, "Elsa" in Lohengrin , "Hilde" in Heinrich von Hans Pfitzner's arms , "Pamina" in the Magic Flute and “Santuzza” in Cavalleria rusticana .

On November 15, 1903, she sang the role of "Martha" at the Deutsches Theater in Prague in the world premiere of the opera Tiefland by Eugen d'Albert under the direction of Leo Blech . Her partners were Erich Hunold as "Sebastiano" and Desider Aranyi as "Pedro". She stayed in Prague until 1908.
