Irene Heise (born September 10, 1956 in Vienna ) is an Austrian religious educator and author .

Life

After studying religious education , she received several years of advanced training and freelance work at the Institute for Pastoral Theology and Pastoral Psychology , Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna with Paul Zulehner . Since 1989 Heise has dealt with the question of how to deal with divorced and remarried people in the church, especially with regard to the sacraments of penance and the Eucharist . In the same year she was also a co-founder of the platform for divorced and remarried people in the Archdiocese of Vienna . In 2003 she founded the competence forum AUFATMEN for divorce and remarriage in the church . In 2008 she founded the Spiritual Forum Katharina von Siena in the Archdiocese of Vienna, in 2014 expanded to the Spiritual-Theological Center Katharina von Siena .

Her publications include thirteen books. In 2007 she received the professional title of professor at a diocesan request due to special services to the Republic of Austria .

Heise is also active in adult education .
