Iris Kramer

Iris Kramer (* 1960 as Iris Timmermann ) is a German jazz musician ( flugelhorn , trumpet ).

Live and act

From 1980 to 1987 Kramer studied music, music therapy, psychology and education at the University of Hamburg as well as at the Hamburg University of Music and in Groningen . In 1984 she was one of the founders of the big band Reichlich Female , which existed until 1989 and for which she also contributed numerous compositions. She played u. a. at the North Sea Jazz Festival or the Danube Island Festival . In addition, she was in charge of the “Girls Make Music” project of the Hamburg cultural authority. In 1990 she founded her own quintet so what? and worked in numerous musical and theater productions a. a.in Hamburg at the Thalia Theater and Schmidt's Tivoli . In 1999 she founded the band Blue Brasil with whom she toured Iceland in 2004 and 2006. She lived and worked there from 2006 to 2009, teaching and giving concerts with the Icelandic accordionist Hrólfur Vagnsson . The duo Starfish emerged from this collaboration in 2014 . She is married, has three sons and lives in Hamburg.
