Hans Götzinger (born February 12, 1867 in Vienna ; † September 25, 1941 in Dürnstein ) was a Viennese watercolorist whose vedute was widely used in postcard form , especially around 1900 .

The offspring of an old Viennese family was born in Vienna-Margareten, grew up on Matzleinsdorfer Straße and attended drawing and painting courses at the arts and crafts school with Professors Rieser , Rößler and Andreas Groll . As a result of the first exhibitions in the Künstlerhaus , purchases and orders were made. Götzinger's pictures came into imperial possession and public collections (mainly in the Modern Gallery and today's Wien Museum ), but the artist mainly worked for the private market. His Viennese motifs were particularly popular in the form of postcards .

Hans Götzinger lived for many years at Hackinger Kai 11 and found preferred motifs in Ober St. Veit and in the Wachau as well as in northern Lower Austria . He was a member and most recently an honorary board member in the Albrecht Dürer Association , received various honors from the City of Vienna and was awarded the title of professor.

His son Otto Götzinger worked as a painter and restorer.
