Irish Brigade
A number of military units with members from Ireland in armies of foreign nations were designated as the Irish Brigade :
- The Irish Brigade of the French Army, a unit established in 1691 but disbanded in 1791.
- The San Patricios , also known as the Irish Battalion or Brigade, who fought on the side of Mexico during the Mexican-American War 1846–1848 .
- The Irish Brigade of the US Army , a unit formed in 1861 from Irish immigrants who took part in the American Civil War on the side of the Northern States and a. was used in the Battle of Gettysburg .
- The Irish Georgia Regiment (Irish Brigade) of the Confederate States Army , a unit also made up of immigrants under Brigadier General Thomas RR Cobb. Fought at the Battle of Fredericksburg a. a. against the above Irish Union Forces Brigade.
- The Irish Transvaal Brigade , which fought on the Boer side against the British in the Boer War (1899–1902).
- The Irish Tyneside Brigade , a British Army unit established during World War I , which u. a. Was used in the Battle of the Somme in 1916 .
- The Irish Brigade , which was formed from British prisoners of war at the suggestion of Roger Casement during the First World War and was to fight on the German side. The force consisted of no more than 56 men and was never used.
- The Irish Brigade , a unit formed from Irish sympathetic to fascism , who fought on the side of Franco during the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) .
- An Irish brigade fought on the Republic's side during the Spanish Civil War.
