Irish Car Bomb

Irish Car Bomb is a mixed beer drink made from stout beer, Irish cream and whiskey .

Whiskey and Irish Cream are mixed as a double shot (4 cl) in a shot glass , whereby the whiskey is to be placed as a layer on the cream by pouring it over an upside-down spoon. The shot glass is then sunk into a half-filled pint stout.

Name and story

It is said that the drink was invented on St. Patrick's Day in 1979 in Wilson's Saloon in Norwich, Connecticut , when the bar owner modified a traditional recipe from his Irish grandfather.

The name refers to the typical Irish drinks it is mixed from and the Northern Ireland conflict . Due to the association with political IRA terrorist attacks, the name of the drink was criticized and partially removed from the drinks list.
