A short (or Austrian: Stamperl ) is an alcoholic drink that is served in 2- cl or 4-cl glasses and usually drunk in one go. For a short time, a variety of drinks can be considered, such as grain , schnapps , tequila , ouzo or liqueur .

In the meantime, the Anglicism shooter (from English to shoot for to shoot ) or shot (English shot) has become commonplace for Kurzer . There it is often a cocktail that is specially mixed and served in small glasses (example: Mexikaner , B52 ). In Austria, a “Red Short” is usually understood to be a mixture of red vodka and Red Bull , a “Black Short” is Black Pushkin and Red Bull.
