Novick initially drew war comics such as Our Army at War and romantic comic series for DC . After a brief absence from the industry in the 1960s, when he was again working as a commercial artist, Novick oversaw well-known comic series such as The Flash , Lois Lane and especially Batman in the 1960s and 1970s . In 1968 Novick was responsible for the general overhaul of these three characters.
