Isaac Ganón

Isaac Ganón (born August 30, 1916 in Concordia , † September 10, 1975 in Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan sociologist and is particularly considered the founder of sociological research in Uruguay.

Life

Ganón was a professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law in Montevideo for about thirty years . In addition, he was head of the Sociological Institute, President of the Association uruguayenne de sciences sociales and from 1959 to 1969 chairman of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Sociología .

Ganón's work was heavily influenced by Pitirim Sorokin . He has written papers on a wide variety of aspects of life in Uruguay.

There is a place in Montevideo named after Dr. Isaac Ganón is named.
