Isaak Paisikovic (around 1893 in Velky Rakovec , Hungary ; † 1945 in Ebensee , Austria ) was a Jewish survivor of the Sonderkommando in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp . He witnessed the mass extermination in the crematoria and gas chambers of the camp .

Life

Isaak Paisikovic was deported from Mukachevo , which had belonged to Hungary since 1938, with his wife and eight children to Auschwitz. He arrived in Auschwitz on May 31, 1944 and was given the prisoner number A-3075. The family was separated on the ramp during the selection process : Isaak Paisikovic came to the camp with two sons, including Dov Paisikovic .

A few days after their arrival, Isaak Paisikovic and his son Dov were assigned to the special unit. They had to transport corpses from a farmhouse converted into a gassing plant to cremation pits; later they were used in the Birkenau crematoria.

Paisikovic survived the evacuation of the Auschwitz concentration camp and the death march to the Mauthausen concentration camp (near Linz ). He came to the subcamp in Ebensee and died in the prisoner infirmary a few days before his son Dov reached the camp.
