The Isaac's Square ( Russian Исаакиевская площадь / Issaakijewskaja ploschtschad) is a great place in St Petersburg , Russia . Between 1923 and 1944 it was known as Vorovsky Square (Russian: Площадь Воровского).

Isaac's Square is located between the Mariinsky Palace (Marienpalast, meeting place of the State Council from 1885 to 1917) and the Isaac's Cathedral , which separates it from the Senate Square (Сенатская площадь). The place is in the midst of an equestrian statue busy, the Tsar Nicholas I represent. The Hotel Astoria is also on the square. One side of the square is bounded by the moika .
