Isabel de Clare (noblewoman, 1226)

Isabel de Clare (also Isabella de Clare ; * November 2, 1226 , † after July 10, 1264) was an English - Scottish noblewoman.

Isabel de Clare came from the Anglo-Norman family Clare . She was the daughter of Gilbert de Clare, 4th Earl of Gloucester, and his wife Isabel Marshal . Her father died as early as 1230. Through the mediation of her mother, who died in early 1240, and through her uncle Gilbert Marshal, 4th Earl of Pembroke , she was married to the Anglo-Scottish Baron Robert de Brus, Lord of Annandale ( † 1295) married. Her uncle gave her as a dowry Ripe in Sussex .

Isabel had several children including:

Her husband married Christina de Ireby for the second time in 1273 . Isabel, through her son Robert, was the grandmother of the Scottish King Robert the Bruce .
