Isembert d'Azincourt

Isembert d'Azincourt († October 25, 1415 at the Battle of Azincourt ) was a French local feudal lord . The battle of Azincourt during the Hundred Years' War was fought on his domain in 1415 .

Life

Isembert belonged to the French noble family d'Azincourt. This ruled over the Azincourt area in northern France. On October 25th, the armies of King Henry V of England met here . and his rival Charles VI. , represented by the Connétable Charles I. d'Albret . Isembert d'Azincourt took the opportunity to gather his own troops and attack the defenseless English convoy from behind. Since Henry V did not have enough men to both guard the prisoners and to repel the attack on the train, he ordered all French prisoners to be killed. Isembert was able to plunder the entourage, but his attack was quickly repulsed by the English.
