Isi Kunath

Isolde "Isi" Kunath (* 1963 in Mainsche , Lower Saxony ) is a German artist and photographer .

Life

Isi Kunath studied Fine Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg from 1991 to 1997 . In 1995 she went on a six-month study trip to Japan and then spent a year as a DAAD scholarship holder at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where she mainly devoted herself to studying sculpture. In 1998 she returned to the AdbK Nürnberg for a year to complete a postgraduate course on art in public spaces.

Her oversized pin sculptures, which were installed in Erlangen for the 1000th anniversary in 2002 and have become a symbol of the city, are particularly well known . Due to aging, they had to be dismantled in 2015.

Isi Kunath lives in Munich .
