Islamic Cultural Center Bremen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Islamic Cultural Center Bremen eV (IKZ Bremen) is a mosque association in Bremen-Mitte. The center is located on Breitenweg near Bremen's main train station. The mosque is mainly visited by North African Muslims. The IKZ Bremen emerged from the Moroccan Abu Bakr mosque on Duckwitzstrasse . In addition to the “ Culture and Family Association ” in Bremen-Gröpelingen, which was banned by Interior Senator Ulrich Mäurer in 2014 , the “Islamic Culture Center” on Breitenweg is considered a stronghold of the Salafists in Bremen.

Search 2015

The Islamic Cultural Center on Breitenweg was searched on March 1, 2015 as part of a nationwide campaign by the Ministry of the Interior. Around 130 police officers were on duty. During the nationwide large-scale operation, a total of 23 club and private rooms of a nationwide network of Salafists were searched in North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Bremen. One of the aims of the campaign was to ban the “Islamic Cultural Center Bremen”.

Proximity to radical Islam and Salafists

The Bremen Senator for the Interior suspects the association, as does the similarly oriented association “ Invitation to Paradise e. V. “(Braunschweig and Mönchengladbach) to want to replace the constitutional order with an Islamic state of God. The searches in 2015 should show “whether the previous initial suspicion has been confirmed”, according to the ministry.

The association is monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
