Isle Hessner

Isle Hessner (actually Lise Hessner ; * 1962 in Nanortalik ) is a Greenlandic artist .

Life

Isle Hessner studied at the Art School in Nuuk , the Art Academy in Copenhagen , the Art Academy in Helsinki , the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs . She is considered a pioneer of contemporary Greenlandic art. As a sculptor, she works with materials such as iron, wood and concrete, but also with seal skin, felt and plaster. Her works have been shown in group exhibitions in Greenland, all of Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Alaska and Russia. She also had solo exhibitions in Greenland, Iceland and Denmark. Sculptures of her can be found in Halifax, Oslo , Roskilde , in front of Katuaq in Nuuk and on the Fram .
