The Islote Leopardo is an island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of the Melchior Islands , it is located southeast of the Eta Island .
Argentine scientists probably named them after the leopard seal ( Hydrurga leptonyx ), a species of seal found in southern polar waters.
