The Isola Minore ( Italian for "Small Island" , until the 19th century also Isoletta "islets") is the smallest of the three islands in Lake Trasimeno . It is located about 1.5 km southwest of Passignano sul Trasimeno , to whose municipality it belongs, and about 500 meters east of the larger island of Isola Maggiore .

The five hectare island is densely forested, mainly with holm oaks and pines . It houses a breeding colony of cormorants .

The island was permanently inhabited until the 14th century, but was then abandoned by the residents because of frequent robberies. After that it only occasionally offered refuge to hermits . Today it is privately owned and uninhabited.
