Israel Shipyards is one of the largest shipbuilding and repair yards in the Eastern Mediterranean. The company also operates the first and only privately owned port in Israel. The company's facilities are located at Kishon Port , part of the port of Haifa . They include a floating dock with a load capacity of 20,000 t and a 900 m long quay with a water depth of 12 m .

history

The Israeli state established the shipyard in 1959 to build, maintain and convert civil and military ships. As a result of years of losses, the shipyard was privatized in 1995 and sold to the Shlomo Group , owned by the Israeli investor Shlomo Shmeltzer .
