Israel vibration

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Israel Vibration is a reggae band.

Cecil 'Skelly' Spence

The trio had a decisive influence on roots reggae with its harmony and vocal music . As is so often the case with Jamaican musicians, the story of Cecil “Skelly” Spence, Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin and Albert “Apple” Craig is more sad. All three suffered from polio in early childhood . Due to the difficult financial situation of their families, they were taken to Kingston at the Mona Rehabilitation Center, where they met.

Although polio only paralyzes one percent of all cases, it affected all three, so that they are still disabled today. The greatest consolation for them is their belief in God. All three members of Israel Vibration are devout Rastafarians , which is particularly evident in their texts. Their belief, combined with their typical Rasta appearance, meant that the trio had to leave the Mona Rehabilitation Center.

Her first album, Same Song , was released in 1976 and sold nearly 100,000 times. A year later Israel Vibration became a member of the “Twelve Tribes of Israel”. In 1983 the group disbanded to start solo careers in the USA with better medical care. In 1988, however, it led Dr. Dread - founder of “RAS Records” - together again when each of the three asked him independently to record a solo record. During the trio's second creative period, which continues to this day, Strength Of My Life , Live Again and Jericho have appeared among others .

Her album Reggae Knights was nominated for Best Reggae Album at the 2012 Grammy Awards .
