Gabriel Issah Ahmed (born May 24, 1982 ) is a Ghanaian soccer player .

Issah came to the top club Asante Kotoko from Kumasi in 2003 via the Dawu Youngsters and the Great Olympics club . There the central defender became the team's captain and led the team to the African Confederation Cup final in 2004, which was only lost on penalties against the Ghanaian league rivals Hearts of Oak , against whom the championship final was also lost. In 2005 the Premier League was won ahead of the permanent competitor and the title of Ghanaian record champions was consolidated with the 20th championship. Issah Ahmed was voted best player in the league this season.

This sparked interest abroad, so that he moved to the Danish second division Randers FC after the season . The club not only managed to win the national cup this year, it also rose to the top division , where it has been used ever since.

Ahmed has also been a member of the Ghanaian national team since his successful 2005 season . It was used for the first time on June 5, 2005 and also played in the important qualifying matches for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. However, he was responsible for the early elimination of the African Cup of Nations through an own goal and a defensive error, which is why he fell out of favor. Although he was in Ghana's World Cup squad , he was not used.
