Block diagram of a simple standard control loop: The controlled variable is measured and compared with its setpoint . In case of deviation of the accesses controller by means of the actuator in the process ( control path ) to correct the situation.
The controlled variable is caused by control constant or deliberately variable-held size . Its desired value is the setpoint (or the reference variable , if it changes over time), its current value is the actual value , also the process value .
example
In the case of heating with a thermostat , the controlled variable is the temperature of the heated room. When it comes to cruise control in a car, the speed is the controlled variable.
