It's Easy to Remember (And So Hard to Forget)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's Easy to Remember (And So Hard to Forget) is a song by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Lorenz Hart , published in 1935.

The song was written for the feature film Mississippi , in which Bing Crosby had a leading role. Crosby took the title on February 21, 1935 with the Georgie Stoll Orchestra. It's Easy to Remember was on the US charts within a month , where it was at the top for two weeks.

Especially through the interpretation of Billie Holiday on her album Lady in Satin 1958, the ballad became a jazz standard : John Coltrane recorded it in 1962 with his quartet on his Ballads album (on Impulse! Records ); for the US jazz trumpeter Billy Butterfield and his orchestra it even became a signature melody; Keith Jarrett played him twice with his Standards trio ( Tribute , At the Deer Head Inn ). Other versions of the title are from Gary Bartz , Mel Tormé, the Roy Haynes Trio and the Art Van Damme Quintet.
