Ita Ever

Ilse "Ita" Ever (born April 1, 1931 in Paide ) is an Estonian actress .

Life and stage

Ita Ever was born the only child to a middle-class family. The father Alfred was Estonian, the mother Nadezhda Russian. One year after the birth, the family moved to Võru , three years later to the Estonian capital Tallinn . Ita Ever attended school there from 1939 to 1950. From 1950 to 1953 Ita Ever studied at the State Institute for Theater Arts ( Russian Государственный институт театрального искусства) in the Soviet capital Moscow . From 1953 Ever worked as an actress at the Tallinna Draamateater . She quickly became one of the most popular Estonian character actresses. From 1978 onwards, numerous Estonian and Russian cinema and television film productions in which Ita Ever played also contributed to their success. She is still on stage today.

Awards

Ita Ever has received numerous awards for her acting performance. Among other things, she received the title of Honored Artist of the Estonian SSR in 1966 and the Award of People's Artist of the Estonian SSR in 1973. In 1985 she was awarded the State Prize of the Estonian SSR. In 2001 the Estonian Folk Culture Foundation ( Eesti Rahvuskultuuri Fond ) awarded her the prize for her life's work.

Private life

In 1953 Ita Ever married the actor Eino Baskin (* 1929), who was also employed at the Tallinna Draamateater . A year later their son, the future actor and director Roman Baskin (* 1954) was born. The marriage broke up two years later and was divorced in 1959. From 1960 Ita Ever lived with the Estonian actor and director Gunnar Kilgas (1926–2005).
