Life

Right after the end of the First World War, Hermann Manfred Voss began studying at a university, which he completed with a doctorate .

At the age of 25 he began his first engagement at the Lübeck City Theater . After stops in Hanover (Deutsches Theater) and Munich ( Volkstheater ), Voß came to Berlin in 1929 to fulfill an obligation at the theater in Behrenstrasse . In 1932 Voss went to Nuremberg , and in the following summers he performed on stages in Kolberg and Bad Oeynhausen .

At the time of National Socialism, isolated from season to season, Voss was completely sidelined after two years at the Cottbus City Theater (1934-36) and his last engagement in 1937/38 at a traveling stage (Kurmärkisches Landestheater von Luckenwalde ).

The homosexual artist was finally arrested for violating Section 175 and taken to Buchenwald concentration camp on July 23, 1942. There he received the prisoner no. 7407 and was assigned to the penal company . Voss died four weeks after being admitted to the concentration camp. The official cause of death was heart valve defect , a violent death can be considered likely.
