The Bracco Italiano is an Italian dog breed recognized by the FCI ( No. 202, Gr. 7, Sec. 1.1 ) .

Origin and history

The first illustrations of the breed date from the 14th century. The Bracco was long used for bird hunting (often together with falconers).

This ancient breed was so decimated after World War II that it almost became extinct. It is a rare breed that is little known outside of Italy .

description

Large hunting dog , up to 67 cm, with a weight of 40 kg with short, dense and shiny fur in different colors and markings: white; White with spots of varying sizes, orange, amber, or maroon; or white-pale orange mottled (melato). A symmetrical mask is preferred, but the lack of a mask is also tolerated. The dogs of this breed have long floppy ears.
