Ivy Pochoda (born January 22, 1977 in Philadelphia ) is an American writer and was a professional squash player .

Life

Pochoda grew up in Brooklyn and studied at Harvard University , where she completed MA degrees in classical Greek, English and American literature. She also received an MFA in creative writing from Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont . After her squash career, her first novel was published in 2009. She received several awards for her writing.

She is married to filmmaker and screenwriter Justin Nowell and lives in Los Angeles .

Squash career

Pochoda played from 1999 to 2006 on the WSA World Tour , reaching their highest position in the world ranking with number 38 in March 2000. With the US national team took in 1998 , 2000 and 2006 at the world championships in part. In 2001, 2002 and 2008 she reached the semi-finals of the national championships . She also competed in college squash for Harvard and won several titles in college sports.
