Iwerode

Iwerode is a deserted area near Sylda in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt . The village was on the way from Sylda to Großörner and can no longer be recognized today. The Roter Berg hill lies near the desert, and a stream also originated here.

history

  • Iwerode was probably founded in the 9th or 10th century in a clearing phase.
  • In addition to Baderode , Ritterode , Endorf, Nieder- Welbsleben , Quenstedt , Wilrode and Wolfshagen , Iwerode, called Ywerode , was sold from the Arnstein rule by the Counts of Regenstein on July 13, 1387 to the Counts of Mansfeld . At this point the village was already deserted.
  • In the feudal letter of Duke Albrecht of Saxony for the Counts of Mansfeld on July 26, 1486, Iwerode was mentioned as Ibenrode .
  • On December 9, 1518, Duke Georg von Sachsen enfeoffed the Counts of Mansfeld with Iwerode (called Ibenrode ), among others .
  • The chronicler Cyriacus Spangenberg met people around 1552 who had seen the remains of the wall of the village church in their youth.
