The Jämthund is an FCI recognized Swedish dog breed ( FCI Group 5, Section 2, Standard No. 42 ).

This dog , one of the Nordic dogs , is 57–65 cm tall and weighs 29.5–30.5 kg. The hair is fairly close-fitting, light to dark gray. The Jämthund comes from the historic Swedish province of Jämtland and is mainly used to hunt the elk , in the past also bears and the lynx . Outstanding characteristics are his strength and endurance.
